Overview of the Bill of Material (BOM) Feature in MargBooks 

• In MargBooks, the Bill of Material (BOM) feature helps you create and manage a structured list of raw materials, components, and their required quantities to manufacture a finished product. It serves as a blueprint for the manufacturing process, enabling businesses to efficiently manage the complete production cycle—from raw material planning to final product manufacturing.
• Using the BOM feature, users can organize materials, define production requirements, automate raw material consumption, maintain inventory accuracy, and calculate manufacturing costs. This ensures a standardized, accurate, and cost-effective production process while improving overall operational efficiency.

To manage the complete manufacturing workflow, users will find the following options in the BOM module:

1. Material Master – Create and maintain the master list of raw materials, components, and finished goods used in manufacturing.
2. Material Issue – Issue raw materials from inventory for the production process based on the defined Bill of Material.
3. Material Received – Record the receipt of finished goods after the manufacturing process is completed and update inventory automatically.

The BOM feature is widely used across industries such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, food & beverages, garments, furniture, automobile parts, engineering, and consumer goods manufacturing.

Process to Enable Bill of Material (BOM) Feature in MargBooks

• Click on the ‘Settings’ Icon.

• In 'Control Room' option, the user will click on ‘Configure’ button.

• The user will search 'BOM'.

• In 'Bill Of Material(BOM)' option, the user will select 'Yes'.

• Press 'ESC' key.

• Click on 'Save' button to save the changes.

• Click on 'OK' button.

Example: Manufacturing a Labeling Machine Using the BOM Feature

• Suppose your company manufactures a Labeling Machine. Using the Bill of Material (BOM) feature in MargBooks, you can manage the complete manufacturing process—from defining raw materials to recording the finished product.

Process to Create Material Master in MargBooks

• Go to Stock Management.

• Click on 'Bill of Materials'.

• Now, click on 'Material Master'.

• User will click on the 'Create button' or press the 'F2' key.

• User can view 'Create Material Master' window will appear.
• In the BOM Name field, the user will mention the BOM name as per the requirement and press 'Enter' Key
• For example, enter "Machine" as the BOM name, depending on the manufacturing requirement.

• User can view the Item Selection window.
• User will select the required item to be produced (e.g., Labeling Machine) and press 'Enter' key.
• If the required item is not available, the user will click the Create button or press the 'F2' key to create a new item.

• User will mention the production quantity in the Qty field and press 'Enter' key.

• User can view the 'Raw Material Item' Selection window.
• User will select the required raw material (e.g., Motor) and press the 'Enter' key.

• User will mention the quantity of raw material required to produce one finished product.

• User will mention all the required raw materials and their quantities, then press the 'F10' key.

• The cursor will move to the By-Product Generated field.
• User will press 'Enter' key and select the by-product generated during the manufacturing of the main product.
• If a by-product is not required, the user will press the 'Enter' key to skip the By-Product Generated field.

Note : - The By-Product Generated field is used to record any secondary product or output generated during the manufacturing of the main product. Although it is not the primary product, it may have value and can be used, sold, or maintained in inventory.

• User can view the Additional Cost field, where any additional production cost or charges can be added to the finished product.
• User will press 'Enter' key to add additional production costs or charges, if required.

• User will view the Ledger List and select the required ledger (e.g., Assembly Charges).

• Click on 'Save' button.

• User can view that the Material Master (production formula) has been created successfully.

Process to Create a Material Issue in MargBooks

• Now, the user will create a Material Issue to issue raw materials for production.
• For example, if 20 Labeling Machines are to be manufactured, the user will issue the required raw materials to the production department.
• Go to Stock Management > Bill of Materials > Material Issue.

• Click on 'Create' button or press 'F2' key.

• User will select the 'Production Department' ledger and press the 'Enter' key.

• User will press the 'Enter' key in the Product column.

• User will select the required item and press the 'Enter' key.
