Overview of Updating GST Tax Rates in MargBooks

Note: The user can change New Tax Rate with effect from 22nd September 2025 or afterwards.

• In MargBooks, updating the GST tax rate for an item is essential when there are changes in government tax policies, product reclassification, or adjustments in your business's tax structure.
• To do this, the user needs to simply edit the item's Tax Category and assign the correct GST rate along with the effective date.
• Making timely updates ensures that invoices reflect accurate tax values, preventing compliance issues, avoiding penalties, and maintaining smooth GST return filings. It also helps in accurate reporting, better input tax credit management, and overall financial transparency.

How to Update GST Tax Rate ‘Tax Category’ Wise in MargBooks Software

• Go to 'Utilities & Tools'.

• Click on 'Ease of GST'.

• The user can view ease of GST  window.

• Users can also view the 'Change Current Tax Slab' button directly on the Dashboard for quick access to update GST rates.
• Click on change 'Current Tax Slab' button.

• Ease of GST window appear.

• Click on Dropdown and select 'Tax Category'.

• The user can select the new GST tax rate from the ‘New Tax Category’ dropdown as per requirement.

• Click on the 'Save' button.

• The users can view the Effective Date, but it is not editable.

• Click on 'Ok' button.

• The user can view a confirmation pop-up.

• User will type 'Sure' and Update.

After following the above steps, the user can view that the GST tax rate has been successfully updated in MargBooks software.

• Go to 'Utilities & Tools'.

• Click the on Ease of GST.

• The user can view ease of GST  window.

• Click on Dropdown and select 'HSN'.

• The user can select the new GST tax rate from the ‘New Tax Category’ dropdown as per requirement.

• Click on the 'Save' button.

• Users can view the Effective Date, but it is not editable.
• Click on 'Ok'.

• The user can view a confirmation pop-up.

• User will type 'Sure' and Update.

After following the above steps, the user can view that the GST tax rate has been successfully updated in MargBooks software.

Process to View New GST Tax Rate Item-Wise in Item Master

• Go to 'Master > Inventory Master > Item'.

• The user will click the 'Modify' icon.

• Click on the 'View' button.

After following the above steps, the user can view the updated GST tax rate for the item in MargBooks Software.
