OVERVIEW OF CESS IN MARG BOOKS

Cess taxes are usually imposed to generate revenue for a specific purpose or to fund a particular program, project, or service. This allows the government to ensure that the revenue collected is dedicated solely to the intended use. Examples of Cess Taxes are: Education Cess, Health Cess etc.

PROCESS TO ENABLE CESS IN MARG BOOKS

  • Firstly, click on 'Settings' icon.

  • 'Dashboard Setting' window will appear.
  • In 'Control Room' option, the user will select 'Configure' button.

  • 'Control Room' window will appear.
  • The user will search 'Cess'.

  • In 'Surcharge/ Octroi/ GST Cess' option, the user will click on 'Configure' button.

  • A 'Surcharge/ Octroi/ GST Cess Settings' window will appear.
  • In 'Cess in %' option, the user will select 'Yes' to apply cess in percentage.

In 'Cess Calculation' option, the user will select calculation as per the requirement.

a. Rate*Qty: Select this option to calculate cess on the value 'Rate*Qty'.

b. Rate*Qty-Disc: Select this option to calculate cess on the value 'Rate*Qty' after deducting discount.

Suppose select 'Rate*Qty' calculation.

  • The user will click on 'Save' button.

  • Now, the user will press 'ESC' key.

PROCESS TO APPLY CESS IN MARG BOOKS

  • Firstly, go to Master > Inventory Master > Item.

  • An 'Item List' window will appear.
  • The user will select the item on which Cess needs to be applied.
  • Suppose select 'Cough Syrup' and press 'F3' key.

  • A 'Modify Item' window will appear.
  • In 'Cess %' option, the user will mention the cess percentage as per the requirement.
  • Suppose mention '5 %'.

  • The user will click on 'Update' button.

  • Now suppose, the user creates a Sale Bill in which Rate is '300' and the Quantity is '1'.
  • Cess = ( Rate*Qty ) * 5%
  • Cess = ( 300 * 1 ) * 5%
  • Cess = 15

After following the above steps, the user can easily Apply Cess in Marg Books.
